The following cast list is for the FULL PLAY SCRIPT version. (There is no cast list for the simple narrated version which is designed to be simply read out with no acting involved).

  • Narrators:  Roughly 100 lines for narrators, divided into around 26 verses. Have as few or as many narrators as you want.
  • Leo The Little Star: Has around a dozen lines and one optional solo.
  • Big Stars: There are parts for 6 children dressed as ‘big’ stars, with 4 lines each. Although this could easily be 12 stars with 2 lines each.
  • Leo’s Parents: Leo’s mother and father have 5 lines each.
  • Angels: A ‘choir’ of angels. One angel has a few lines and an optional solo.
  • Three Wise Men & Three Shepherds: A spoken line or two each, plus optional solos.
  • Mary & Joseph: 2 lines each.
  • Optional Extras: The guidance that accompanies your purchase provides ideas for several more non-speaking roles.

There are two scripts for staging this simple 9-song musical. Both tell the same story, in slightly different ways:

FULL PLAY SCRIPT VERSION: A simple rhyming script with speaking parts for dozens of children – though it’s easily adapted for just a small handful.

SIMPLE SCRIPT VERSION: Tells the story entirely through narrators, so even the very youngest children can follow and enjoy it.

Perform it with anything from 2 to 100+ children.

Stick exactly to either script and the show runs for about 20-25 minutes. Too long or too short? The suggestions in your purchase help you easily trim or stretch it by up to 10 minutes either way.

We recommend at least three days of rehearsal time. Every group is different, though, so please listen to the songs and look through the material before deciding how much time your pupils will need.

BEAUTIFUL

"We staged this nativity two years ago in our church carol service with a cohort of 20 kids aged 3-13. It was completely perfect and went down a treat.
