Questions from churches

What is a good nativity play for a church or Sunday school?
Cool Carols is written with churches in mind: a faithful, rhyming retelling of the Bible story with 9 traditional carols given a modern sound, two new songs and optional Bible readings. For younger children, Our First Nativity tells the story with nursery-rhyme-style songs.
Which nativity works with only a few children?
Cool Carols and Keeping Mr Inn In The Inn work with just 1 child plus narrators. Our First Nativity, The ABC Nativity and What A Star work with 2. All of them grow to 100 or more, so you won't need to rewrite if numbers change.
Can we perform the nativity as part of a church service?
Yes. Many churches include a children's nativity in a family or carol service. Cool Carols is built that way, with carols and optional Bible readings, and short shows such as Our First Nativity (10–25 minutes) fit easily into a service.
Do you have church plays for Easter and harvest?
Yes. Our First Easter Play tells the Easter story gently for young children, E-A-S-T-E-R Spells Easter for Juniors presents it for ages 6–11, and The Donkey’s Tale is a Palm Sunday mini-musical for ages 7–11. For harvest, The Harvest Assembly Collection has two harvest assemblies and six harvest songs, and I Want To Praise has 14 Christian assemblies with songs for the whole year.
How do we include children of different ages?
Every nativity comes with editable scripts, so you can give longer parts to older children and simple lines, songs or actions to the youngest. Group songs can be shared by any number of children.
Does a church need a performance licence?
Yes, a licence is needed even with free admission, and it's included with our nativities: unlimited performances for a year, plus a Recording Licence to share or stream free to up to 50 users. More about licences, filming and streaming.
Can I see the script and hear the songs first?
Yes. Every nativity has script samples and song samples on its page, so you can share the link with your team and choose together.
