Coronavirus Update: 31st August 2020

Thank you to all our customers around the world, for your continued support during this global coronavirus pandemic. Here in the UK, we’re easing restrictions that were imposed during our nationwide lockdown, which have been in place since mid-March.

The vast majority of UK schools have now reopened. However, group singing and large congregations (assemblies) are largely discouraged, which is clearly an issue for us, as the act of singing, group performances and school assemblies, represent our core business activities.

Nevertheless, we are still seeing a strong desire from regular customers to continue with their Christmas and Harvest performances, in as normal a way as possible, but with appropriate Coronavirus mitigations in place. With this in mind, we have now included a detailed Coronavirus Advice Sheet inside every one of our publications, to help you make your performances as safe as possible.

In addition, several areas of business operations that were affected over the last six months are starting to return to normal…

Call Centre

Our phone lines are open as usual. However, most of our operators are still working from home. Therefore, if you need to speak to us by phone for any reason, that’s no problem. Just be aware that as a few members of staff have young children at home with them, there may be the odd occasion where you can hear a child’s voice in the background! Thank you for your understanding.

Website / Downloads / Physical Orders

Our website is working as normal and any item can still be ordered and downloaded instantly. In the unlikely circumstance that you require technical support, we are still aiming to help you as urgently as possible, whether you contact us by email, or by phone.

During the height of the pandemic we temporarily stopped all physical orders. However, this restriction has now been lifted meaning any item on our website can now be ordered as normal.

Free Material

To help customers out, we recently made a large number of our assembly songs available for free, via new ‘Lyric Videos’ on our YouTube channel. We initially intended to make this temporary. However, we have now decided to keep most videos there indefinitely, and plan to add many more videos through the coming months.

‘Thank You For The Teachers’ – New Lyric Video for #ThankATeacher Day

Thank You For The Teachers - NEW Lyric Video for ThankATeacher Day
Thank You For The Teachers – ThankATeacher Day

‘Thank You For The Teachers’ is a school assembly song written and recorded back in 2004. But it now has a brand NEW Lyric Video, released for ThankATeacher Day 2020.

I wrote this song as a fun tribute to all the wonderful, hardworking teachers around the world 16 years ago. But now, on ThankATeacher Day 2020, it seems more relevant and appropriate than ever before. So… we have created a new lyric video and have made it available for you to use in your school for FREE. Just click on the above image to visit our YouTube channel. Furthermore, we now dedicate this song to all the school staff and pupils around the world, who have sadly lost their lives during the coronavirus pandemic.

Harvest Time Is Here

Over the next month, schools and churches will be preparing to celebrate harvest time. So here’s a closer look at our most popular harvest title, ‘H-A-R-V-E-S-T Spells Harvest’ for ages 6-11.

Through the storm of the terror attacks in Manchester and London

Today is Pentecost Sunday. Usually, this is one of my favourite days of the year for going to church (along with Easter Sunday and Christmas Day). You can literally feel the excitement and anticipation in the congregation, on what is one of the most joy filled services of the calendar.

But this year is very different for two reasons. Firstly, I’m stuck at home on my own, still recovering from a major operation on my left ankle, which has left me in a lot of pain. And secondly, because I’ve spent most of the night watching the news in disbelief, as a second major terrorist attack in less than two weeks has hit our country. My Left Foot
My Left Foot

Yesterday I had a 5 hour operation on my left foot to correct an issue with my heel bone. Unfortunately, the operation involved severing and then re-attaching my achilles tendon (ouch). The operation went very well and the surgeon expects me to make a full recovery, in time. However, it will be a few months before I’m able to walk unaided and I’ve been warned that complete recovery could take up to a year.

Please be assured that whilst I’m recuperating, the day-to-day operations of Learn2soar Music will continue unaffected. I have a great team of people working for me who I have great confidence in. Continue reading “Learn2soar News Update”
